While one morning tying my shoelaces I felt my belly pushing against me in an uncomfortable way. It was only then that I understood it. After an interval of several months, I weighed myself — 88 kg. That number made me stop for a moment. I was not angry, but only conscious of the fact that I was moving farther away from the healthy version of myself.

At 34, I made up my mind that this was not about vanity anymore. It was more about energy, freedom, and self-respect. I was not looking for quick results — what I really wanted was to be in control of my life again, slowly but surely.

I wanted to be physically and even mentally lighter than before. My goal was to have the freedom of movement, be able to climb the stairs without puffing, and play with my niece without feeling tired.

I also set a goal to get back the confidence to be able to dress well and like the reflection in the mirror. My target was to get down to 75 kg — not as a stopover, but as a base for a sustainable healthy lifestyle.

At present, when I weigh 75 kg, my emphasis is more on increasing strength and stamina rather than just keeping the number constant. I want to live an active lifestyle, add some light workouts to my routine, and encourage others to focus on their overall health instead of looking for quick fixes.

Fitness should not be viewed as a punishment — it is an act of self-respect. There will be days when you will feel lazy and unmotivated, and that is perfectly alright. What really counts is being there again and again even when you feel like this.
