I recently started doing HIIT workouts at home after being inactive for almost a year. I usually exercise in the morning on an empty stomach because I heard it helps burn more fat. But after 10–15 minutes, I start feeling dizzy, shaky, and weak. A few days ago I even had to lie down after finishing. Am I doing something wrong or is this normal for beginners?
This can happen when your body is not getting enough fuel before intense exercise. HIIT is demanding and doing it on an empty stomach may cause low blood sugar, especially if you’re new to workouts. Dehydration and lack of sleep can also contribute.
Try these steps:
- Eat a light snack 30–60 minutes before exercise (banana, toast, yogurt, etc.)
- Drink enough water before and after workouts
- Start with shorter sessions and increase intensity gradually
- Avoid jumping directly into advanced HIIT routines
If dizziness continues, or if you experience chest pain or fainting, consult a healthcare professional.
