Lately whenever I eat a large lunch with rice, I feel extremely sleepy afterward. Sometimes I struggle to focus on work and feel lazy for hours. This has been happening more often over the last few months. I don’t have diabetes as far as I know, but should I be concerned?

Large carbohydrate-heavy meals can cause a rapid rise and fall in blood sugar, which may lead to post-meal sleepiness. Portion size, poor sleep, stress, and low physical activity can also contribute.
You can try:
- Reducing portion sizes slightly
- Adding protein and vegetables to meals
- Walking for 10–15 minutes after eating
- Avoiding very heavy lunches during work hours
If symptoms are frequent or accompanied by excessive thirst, weight changes, or fatigue, consider getting blood sugar levels checked.
