As a 34-year-old from Kolkata, I wanted to build real strength, not just size. With consistent training and the right nutrition, I transformed my body and confidence—an experience that later inspired me to start FreakToFit.
what motivated you to Start Muscle Gain Journey?
The major life change moment for me was actually the very beginning of last year. I was, as the creator of “FreakToFit,” the one who was constantly encouraging others to lead a healthy lifestyle, yet eventually, I realized that I was going to be the one who does not live like that. My body was shrinking; I lacked strength and stamina. I stopped feeling like the person I used to be.
After a tough day at work, one evening I saw myself in the mirror and thought, “If I become the reason others get inspired, then I am definitely the first one to do it.” It was a decision made instantly to regain my physique with a focus on muscle mass increase, strength improvement, and becoming the strongest version of myself.
“Transform your mindset, and your body will follow.”
What were your goals?
First and foremost, one of my primary goals was to develop muscle in a controlled and natural way. The main goal of mine was to increase lean body mass without the unnecessary gaining of fat. Apart from that, I also wanted to have more energy, better metabolism, and enhanced self-esteem.
Being the manager of “FreakToFit,” I considered it a great demonstration to my readers and clients that there is no challenge transformation, if you have discipline and are consistent, regardless of your starting point.
How did you manage to achieve your goals?
My transformation was centered entirely on me having a plan that I made myself, was personally designed, and well-researched, and I followed it like a religion. The main changes that I brought about were:
- Progressive strength training — focus on compound lifts such as squats, deadlifts, and bench presses.
- Healthy eating — following a balanced diet that was rich in protein, complex carbohydrates, and good fats for muscle development.
- Recovery — allowing the body to rest through off days and nights with 7–8 hours of sleep.
- Mindset — letting go of the desire for instant results and putting the focus on future progress.
For me, the turning point was when I took the decision to seriously track my macros and maintain my consistency for quite a few months without workout sessions skipping. The outcome of this slow transformation was the noticeable changes to my body: a more muscular arm, broader shoulder, and a physique with better definition.
- Do not hold your meals for more than 3–4 hours if you want to have a constant source of energy for your body.
- Put protein-rich food in your diet that consists of eggs, paneer, fish, and lentils.
- Track your progress on a weekly basis—measurement being more accurate than just weighing.
- Make sure your body is hydrated and do not allow yourself to skip post-workout nutrition.
- Exercise strength along with intelligence in the gym—using the correct form and rest are just as important as heavy lifting.
- Remember muscle gain is a marathon, not a sprint.
Favorite Recipes:
Even when I was in the process of building muscle, I still allowed myself the pleasure of eating my beloved Bengali food. It was merely a question of how to prepare it in a healthier and more balanced way:
- Chingri Malai Curry (Prawn Coconut Curry) – an ideal source of good fat and protein.
- Moong Dal with Steamed Rice – the best post-workout meal for energy restoration.
- Grilled Hilsa Fish – a delicious source of omega-3 fatty acids.
- Chicken Kosha with Brown Rice – a delicious high-protein meal.
- Chirer Upma (Flattened Rice Upma) – a simple and quick carb source before workout.
How did FreakToFit help?
Though I as the founding member have quite a good knowledge of the tools and methods that FreakToFit uses, I decided to carry out the “Let’s see the full potential” experiment through my own platform. That was the way I kept my promises with FreakToFit’s personalized workout and nutrition tracking system.
The platform was really good if one wanted to keep track of calories, protein, carbs, and fats. Apart from that, the exercise directions and meal suggestions of the app were the sources of my consistency and at the same time, they did not let me lose my zeal. Also, it was very much committed to progress, even if it is by one small step at a time.
Did you encounter setbacks?
Yes, I certainly did. The journey of muscle building is complicated and not a straight line. There were moments when I had low energy and due to my work commitments, I did not go to the gym. Sometimes I gain a little fat and get upset. However, I have learned that having setbacks is inevitable if you want to advance in the process.
What made my comeback so quick was looking deeply at my reasons for taking this journey. That reminder of mine lit up my zeal every single time.
Advice for Others.
If you are just starting out on your journey, do not expect to see miracles happening overnight. Progress should be your focus, not perfection. Keep at it, even when you are feeling down or lack motivation.
Take selfies, write down your goals, and, most importantly, be glad of the process. Every rep, every meal, and every little progress counts.
Also, remember that your transformation is not only physical but also mental and emotional.
What are your future goals?
After that, I will be working on my endurance and flexibility while maintaining my muscle mass as the main focus. I want to become an even stronger and more athletic version of myself.
Besides that, I have a goal of using FreakToFit as a medium, through which I can educate, motivate, and empower others to take their fitness journeys just like I did.
The most important lesson?
The most significant lesson has been for me that discipline outweighs motivation. Motivation may go away but discipline is what keeps you moving.
I am doing it not only for my own sake but as a way of drawing other people to do the same and thus, letting them realize that transformation is possible- because if I can do it, then so can you.
