Working long hours in IT, my weight kept creeping up. FreakToFit helped me reset my habits—now I’m 15 kg lighter and full of energy again.
what motivated you to want to lose your weight?
The start of the last year was a huge change in my life actually. I turned 30 and saw that my life was a mess – staying up late, eating whenever I wanted, and barely doing any physical activity. And so, I was constantly tired, feeling heavy, and lacking confidence.
I particularly remember the day I stood on the weighing scale and it showed 75 kg. That was the number that shocked me the most. In fact, it was the first time I was that heavy, so I immediately understood that it was time for a change.
That very night, I vowed to myself that I would be the one to control my health and not only would I change my body but also my mind. I did not wait for the right moment to act – it was that very moment he started.
“The moment you stop giving excuses is the moment your change starts.”
What were your goals?
My primary goal was very simple – to make myself healthier, lighter, and more confident. I wanted to be energetic again, be able to walk freely, and fit into my old clothes without any trouble.
I was wearing XL shirts and tight jeans. The person I saw in the mirror I didn’t like. My goal was to get to 60 kg which is my ideal weight and then keep it while living a strong, active lifestyle.
How did you manage to achieve your goals?
I came about my goal during the pandemic period. While most people working from home have put on weight, I chose to make a good investment of my time in my transformation. My changes were very gradual and very few of them:
- I limited myself to fried snacks and sugary beverages only occasionally.
- I made sure that my meals were prepared at home regularly.
- I vowed to myself that I would walk every morning, and I was also counting my steps – my goal was 10,000 steps per day.
- I controlled my portions and put more focus on eating in a mindful manner.
Very weight loss was to me very obvious gradually. I kept at it and the scale started moving down, my energy levels went up, and I felt lighter not only physically but also mentally.
- Drinking water freely and not allowing yourself to become dehydrated during the day is very important.
- If you decide to completely stop eating your favorite foods — do it sometimes but in the right amount.
- Carry out doable plans — give yourself a treat for every little accomplishment.
- Maintaining food diaries is a way of becoming more aware of your dietary habits.
- Keep moving at all times — 30 minutes walking can do a lot of good.
- Observe the 80/20 rule — 80% clean food and the rest 20% flexible treats.
Favorite Recipes:
Yes, I am a Bengali, and I did not have to give up my love for the tradition of flavors. What I did was just making them more nutritious:
- Grilled Rohu Fish with Brown Rice and Salad – a light one, rich in protein, and tasty.
- Moong Dal with Lau (Bottle Gourd) – a perfect low-calorie and healthy meal.
- Chicken Stew with Mixed Vegetables – the stuff that’s perfect for dinner; filling, yet easy to digest.
- Chirer Upma (Flattened Rice Upma) – a great snack for before your workout.
- Masoor Dal with Boiled Egg and Steamed Rice – a balanced, simple, and energizing meal.
How did FreakToFit help?
When I was at a plateau and didn’t know what to do next, I sought help from FreakToFit. That is when the big change took place.
The FreakToFit team came up with for me:
- A diet plan that took into account my preferences and daily schedule.
- Easy exercises that I could do at home without the need for a gym or equipment.
- An approach to calorie and nutrient tracking that made me responsible.
- Always providing me with encouragement and expert advice whenever I sought them.
With the help of FreakToFit, I learned how to prepare balanced meals, work out efficiently, and most importantly, be consistent even when it’s hard. So, in a few months, I did what was once considered impossible.
Did you encounter setbacks?
Indeed, I had — no story of change is without obstacles along the way. There were times in which I felt stuck, lacked motivation, and even had a little weight regain after festivals or holidays.
However, instead of quitting, I thought about my reasons for starting. I returned to my plan, focused on it, and kept being patient.
“Setbacks are simply stops, not the end of your story.”
Advice for Others.
Should you be about to embark on a weight loss journey, please get this straight — perfection is not needed, rather consistency is.
Start with something small, be patient, and don’t compare your progress with that of others. Keep taking your pictures, noting your developments, and rewarding yourself for each milestone reached.
Consistency is the key, not the shortcuts. You know, if I were able to lose 15 kg in a natural and sustainable manner, then so are you.
What are your future goals?
Once I was able to lose weight and get to 60 kg, which is my target weight, my next goal is to keep it and, along with that, get lean and muscle strength. What I really want is to be able to live an active, healthy, and strong life and not just for a certain period of time.
Besides that, through FreakToFit, I want to be the reason that brings the awareness of health issues to people who are in that struggle and gives them the trust that change is always possible.
The most important lesson?
The largest takeaway for me is that your body is a mirror of your mind.
There will be days when you are lazy and there will be days when you cheat — but the thing that matters the most is that you don’t give up. The progress may be slow but it is always worth the effort.
“Consistent with belief in oneself, change is not a dream but a result.”
