I usually sleep around eight hours every night, but some mornings I still feel exhausted. Is sleep duration not the only factor that determines restfulness?
Sleep duration is important, but sleep quality is equally critical. Deep sleep stages are responsible for physical recovery and hormonal balance. If sleep cycles are frequently interrupted, the body may not reach the restorative stages required for proper recovery.
Common factors that disrupt sleep quality include irregular sleep schedules, screen exposure before bedtime, stress, and poor sleep environments. Even mild breathing disturbances during sleep can reduce deep sleep phases.
Improving sleep hygiene, maintaining consistent sleep times, and limiting electronic devices before bedtime often enhances sleep quality significantly.
