I recently started strength training and often wake up sore the next day. Sometimes the soreness lasts for two or three days. Should I continue exercising through the soreness, or is it better to rest completely?
Mild muscle soreness after exercise is common, especially when starting a new workout routine. Light activity such as walking, stretching, or yoga can often help reduce stiffness.
However:
- Severe pain is not normal
- Sharp pain may indicate an injury
- Recovery is essential for muscle growth
Listening to your body and allowing adequate recovery time can help prevent overtraining.
