I fall asleep easily but wake up around 3 or 4 AM and struggle to sleep again. What causes this pattern? Is it due to depression? Or too much overthinking?
Waking consistently at 3–4 AM may be related to stress, anxiety, elevated cortisol levels, or disrupted sleep cycles. Alcohol intake, late-night screen use, or inconsistent sleep schedules can also fragment sleep. In some cases, blood sugar dips during the night may trigger awakenings. Improving sleep hygiene, reducing late-night stimulation, and managing stress can often correct this pattern.
