For the past few weeks, I’ve noticed that whenever I get up quickly from my bed or chair, I feel dizzy for a few seconds. Sometimes my vision even becomes slightly blurry before returning to normal. I haven’t changed my routine much, but I do spend long hours working and sometimes forget to drink water. Is this something serious?
Brief dizziness when standing up can occur due to a temporary drop in blood pressure, known as orthostatic hypotension. Common contributing factors include dehydration, prolonged sitting, fatigue, and skipping meals.
You can try:
- Drinking adequate water throughout the day
- Standing up more slowly
- Avoiding long periods of inactivity
- Eating regular meals
If dizziness becomes frequent, severe, or leads to fainting, consult a healthcare professional.
