Independiente Responded With a Great Game

Finally, the answer to so much controversy that the 0-0 draw in the Avellaneda derby generated in some people came with football and goals. Independiente played a great game against Godoy Cruz in the round of 16 of the Argentine Cup with good performances in almost all the lines, crowning a 3-0 that even fell short.

It is necessary for Independiente to start to value the steps it is taking in terms of football, not only because of the three-game winning streak and the aforementioned draw against its neighbours. On this occasion, it also added football to all the fight that the team had been putting in. Ultimately, it is what we have always been and want to be again. The right amalgam between good play and the “strong and tempered leg” that the anthem says.

Independiente Responded With a Great Game.

The grit and dedication were added to the spice of the game today by Santiago ( Montiel and Lopez ) who ran, demanded and both scored in the net. I also take the time to agree with Julio Vaccari ‘s assessment of Felipe Loyola, whom he described as a “gladiator” . The Chilean had another great game and is another of the pillars of this recovery.

River is coming, a very tough rival who will want to win with the help of all their stars. Another very difficult test for Vaccari’s Rojo who has had a more than positive result from a streak that began with Estudiantes and that worried more than one person.

El Rojo beat Godoy Cruz in Córdoba and made it to the quarter-finals of the Argentine Cup.

I repeat a concept that has already been discussed in these columns, it is time to not be overconfident even a little but to continue “growing up”. Seeking to grow and even if it is unfair, that this team helps to straighten the ship. But let’s not go that far. Let’s celebrate now. Let’s enjoy watching the goals again and chatting with every Rojo fan we come across about the great game that Independiente won. We don’t have to be afraid to say it, today we are happy. Today we are satisfied. Will we be able to get excited tomorrow?
