I started beginner yoga videos about a month ago mainly to improve flexibility. But I still can’t touch my toes during forward bends, and sometimes I feel tightness behind my knees. I practice around 4 times a week. Does this mean I’m doing something wrong?
Not at all. Flexibility improves gradually and everyone starts at different levels. Tight hamstrings, hips, and calves are very common, especially if you sit for long hours.
A few tips:
- Don’t force stretches aggressively
- Bend your knees slightly during forward folds
- Focus on consistent practice rather than reaching the toes
- Warm up before stretching
Progress may take weeks or months depending on your body. Yoga is more about steady improvement and comfort than achieving a perfect pose quickly.
