Business management graduate Shideh Kaviani and her sisters, Shida and Shirin, are co-founders of The Naked Wardrobe, an affordable value brand worn by Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez, Khloe Kardashian, Kylie Jenner. and others.

The Kaviani sisters founded their brand in 2012 with an investment of $7,500 from their parents’ home. Today, they employ 25 employees in a 15,000 square-foot office and warehouse in Northridge, California.

Shideh, 31, the youngest sister and president of the Naked Wardrobe in a recent profile in Apparel News, said, “We are so proud and blessed to be in this place.”

Known for curve-hugging knit apparel such as biker shorts, bodysuits, rompers, dresses, cropped tops, miniskirts and swimwear, the label sold more than $2 million in its first year alone.

Day-night Viscos make up about 75 percent of their collection, which is hugely popular on social media and through “haul” videos that affect YouTube.

Is Naked Wardrobe Ethical?

The Naked Wardrobe’s environmental rating is ‘very poor’. It does not publish enough relevant information about its environmental policies to give high ratings. As a buyer you have the right to know how its production methods affect the environment.

Its labour rating is ‘very poor’. Some last stage of its production is carried out in the United States, a country with a moderate risk for labor abuse. There is no evidence that there is any code of conduct.

There is no evidence that it has activist empowerment initiatives such as collective bargaining or rights to complain. Also, there is no evidence that it ensures payment of a living wage in its supply chain.

It does not disclose any policy or safeguards to protect suppliers and workers in its supply chain from the effects of COVID-19.
